Catalogue Modelling, how to become a catalogue model?

April 17, 2008

Catalogues only hire catalogue models for advertising through reputable modelling agencies. You will not be able to apply directly.

How do you sign to a model agency?

Take some normal photographs of yourself; make sure you wear no jewellery, just simple clothes (ie t-shirt and skirt) and little to no makeup. Then, bring them to open calls in the largest fashion city in your area.

All reputable model agencies have websites where they will post their weekly open call times.

Treat this open call like a job interview. Dress simply and be as friendly as possible. Your personality is as important as your looks. Also, don’t forget to wear comfortable heels. Expect to go to dozens of open calls (even more than once to the same agency) before you get signed.

A normal catalogue model is around 5’8 tall normally.

Remember be ready to model from TV commercials, clothes to appliances, catalogue modelling can be fun but you have to work with every kind of item.

Hopefully this advice will help you blossom as a catalogue model once the model agency has signed you up.
