Homemade Christmas Chocolate Fudge

December 5, 2008

With the credit crunch going on right now it’s great when you can find something easy and inexpensive to make as gifts for your family and friends.  Try this easy fudge recipe and see the smiles on Christmas morning when they open your gift!

What you will need:
300g dark chocolate with a high cocoa content,  70 – 80%
400g can of condensed milk

Break the chocolate into a microwavable dish.
Microwave chocolate for 1 minute and stir.
Repeat.
If the chocolate has not melted, microwave for an extra 20 seconds and stir. Repeat for 20-second intervals until the chocolate has melted (be careful not to overheat and burn the chocolate).
Add the condensed milk to the chocolate and stir well (the mixture will thicken).
Pour into a foil-lined tin, spread evenly and smooth the top.
You can sprinkle nuts on the top, if you like.
Allow to cool for at least one or two hours.
Remove the fudge and peel off the foil.
Cut into small squares.
You can put the fudge into a decorated jar or box to give as a gift.
This recipe makes two batches.
