Tips and recommendations on how to grow tomatoes.
1. Tomatoes need to be planted late in the day or at dusk
2. When you plant your tomatoes bury the plant just above the lowest leaves. and continue to add soil on top of the bottom leave for 2-3 more times, depending on how big the plat is.
3. Plant somewhere they will get full sun and partial defused light.
4. Trim the “sucker” branches off, meaning you decide where the plant grows and trim off any branches you don’t like where they are growing.
5.plan on watering you plants 2 times a day, unless it rains, I do it first thing in the morning, between 6 and 7 am and again after dinner after 7 pm. Never more than a gallon at a time. I use fish emulsion as a fertilizer, all natural; every other week diluted 1 cap full per gallon of water.
I have been growing tomatoes for many years and have had amazingly plump and juicy tomatoes. Good luck, this is the hardest part, the anticipation of your first batch of tomatoes is never racking.
Get a book and write down what is working for you, what doesn’t work and keep it where you can find it next year to go over your notes and not make the same mistake twice.
