The ‘Green’ Issue
March 27, 2008
Quick get to the shops before it gets dark and the neds start congregating outside the off license. Next doctors appointment available is a week tommorrow. How can you legislate or plan for when you’re going to get sick? Nana says you can pay her back that £50 when you’re back on your feet. That is the issues I hear. The green issue is a class issue. An issue for middle class or upper class or any other kinda people with too much money or time on their hands.
You’re job is pittiful and the wages likewise, you live in a squaler with 4 more people than the house should hold, your health is frightening and what you’re daughter gets up to with that wee drug dealer you can’t bear to think about. How far up on your list of priorities is the ‘green issue’
Oh yes it comes pounding out the tv at us, how evil and wasteful we are, usually from prime ministers and presidents who tear up the planet on a daily basis on humungas fire breathing smoke bellowing jumbo jets or worse still self inflated, pampered, mother terasa wannabee pop stars (step forward Bono). I don’t need Madonna telling me how to save the planet on live8 when she’s using more electricity to tell me that than I will ever use in my life time!
We are but a grain of sand on the sahara desert of pollution compared to the USA and China. Check the percentages and I defy you not say ‘Why do we bother’
The only real ‘Green Issue’ in Glasgow is who is going to win the next old firm game.
Moore Mcilhatton

I could not agree more!!!!! I am also sick and tired of all of these celebrities who continually bleep on about how WE are murdering the planet. They seem to forget that unlike the working class they can quite easily afford to spend £30k on the latest eco-friendly hybrid cars or buy a £20 packet of fair trade steamed apricots. They even have the time to separate all of their rubbish into glass and plastic and paper (or should I say their assistant/ cleaner/ nanny has the time!!!!!!) For those of us who have to make the breakfast, run the kids to school, walk the dog, do a load of washing etc etc etc all before half 8 before we have to make our own way though the morning rush hour to reach our jobs, do not have this time I am afraid. Quite frankly it does not even feature on our list of priorities. Yet I am made to feel guilty!!!!! I am a single mother trying to bring up 3 children AND hold down a job. But when I turn on the television these over paid, pampered celebrities are telling me that I am a bad person. Will someone PLEASE tell me what exactly I am guilty of????????
