Glasgows Nightlife - Something for Everyone
April 4, 2008
Glasgow’s vibrant nightlife is extremely varied with something for everyone. Glasgow boasts bars and nightclubs of almost every description and wide selections of theatre shows and musical performances every night, all mostly concentrated in the famous cosmopolitan city centre, a relatively small section of the city which is constantly bursting with activity. Other sections, such as Ashton Lane, a cobbled alley way lined with pubs and clubs tucked away in the west end, form there own alternative attractions.
There are countless clubs, some open every night of the year. Multiple clubs make an effort to provide different genres of music to attract a variety of clientele, such as the student ‘Mecca’ of the Garage, Bamboo, Fury Murrays or The Savoy, among many others, whilst there is many options for series clubbers to attend performances of world class DJ’s at clubs like The Arches and Sub Club, partially due to Glasgow’s many music labels which continue the growth of Glasgow’s thriving underground music scene. This is of course not to mention the many, many venues for every type of live music.
Eating out in Glasgow similarly has something for every taste. The streets, especially in the city centre, are lined with every type of restaurant, from the world famous Ashoka, to the novel, like Khublai Khans, a Mongolian themed restaurant. Restaurants of every quality and price line the city centre and are prevalent throughout the rest of the city.
For a good evenings entertainment there are numerous theatres, such as The Kings Theatre, Theatre Royal and The Citizens Theatre, all helping to illustrate Glasgow’s cultural urbanity. For the lighter hearted there are frequent comedy club nights at Jongleurs and The Stand and a variety of cinemas, including the tallest cinema in the world, Renfrew Street Cineworld
Glasgow’s something-for-everyone style guarantees that anyone who explores the city will find something to fall in love with as well as continual novelty from the many entertainment choices available and the constantly evolving club scene.
