New logbook for a car, V62 form (V5C)
May 6, 2008
Logbook for a car. Here is how to apply for a new logbook for a car or similar road vehicle. You can apply for a new logbook for your vehicle if it has been stolen, lost, destroyed or you did not receive a logbook with your new car.
Firstly go to your main post office and ask for a V62 vehicles registration form or you can download the logbook form from the following link: click here for V62 form (make sure you have acrobat reader). DVLA also can send you the form by mail but that takes a few days – if you can wait ring them on: 0870 240 0010.
Next – The form should only be completed in the name of the person keeping the vehicle. The cost of the new form will be £25. Sometimes you maybe exempt to the fee if the previous keeper failed to notify DVLA of any changes or the evhicle has been categorised as “Cat C” salvage by the insurance company and they have destroyed the registration certificate.
It normally takes up to 2 or 4 weeks to receive the registration certificate – HINT “If you have a DVLA office close by, go in person it will speed up the process”
You can send in the V62 form (for a V5C registration certificate) to DVLA, Swansea SA99 1DD.
