BARRY BOOED BY BALLISTIC VILLA FANS!
July 23, 2008
When a player disrespected a manager in Brian Clough’s day, he didn’t get a pathetic fine and a ban from training he gets a saucy smack to the face and thorough physical beating in training. However that by gone era of battling bruisers and dodgy hair cuts is gone has paved a new time for a bulging transfer budget and tussling over transfers and this summers biggest national transfer has took a vicious turn for the worst for England international Gareth Barry. The ex- Villains captain has made it publicly known of has burning desire to switch Villa for Liverpool, and again publicly criticised his manger Martin O’Neil’s shrewd transfer market skills. A bad decision.
Barry said: “My minds made up, I want to join Liverpool.
“There’s no going back, it’s time for me to move on. I’m desperate to play Champions League football and that’s why I have to leave Villa.”
“Villa kept saying they wanted me to stay but I have not heard from the manager for weeks,” he said.
“Its seven weeks now since the season finished but while the gaffer’s found time to be a pundit for the BBC at Euro 2008; he hasn’t found the time to speak to me.
“Have Villa offered me anything to try to persuade me my future is at Villa Park, not Anfield? Not a thing.” He told a national newspaper. These words and being stuck in transfer limbo caused the an hour of persistent jeers and the constant array of boos as well as taunts by the Villa faithful during the teams 3-2 victory over Walsall, who feel genuinely hurt by the player’s harsh words.
Barry has great footballing ability and a mindset twinned with determination to match. But his recent outburst and his once loyal fans rejection might make him realize that yes, he is entitled to a move for his 10 year service and wonderful talents but when it comes to transfer keep it zipped its all for the best.
The question is was it his decision to comment? Or his money sniffing agent getting a whiff of a broken down deal which ultimately meant no payday? Make your own mind up, someone has to…
