COLE’S SCRAMBLE ENSURES CAPELLO ISNT LEFT WITH EGG ON HIS FACE!
August 22, 2008
England’s preparations for the 2010 World Cup qualifiers came to a disappointing end last night. Even with John Terry brandishing the armband with pride. The Czech visitors managed to hold England’s nearly men to a 2-2 draw at Wembley.
The visitors were ahead just 22 minutes in with Milan Baros converting a 10 yard shot which kindly deflected off Ashley Cole to Wrong foot David James.
After this slow start England powered into action levelling a minute before the interval when forgotten solid rock Wes Brown rose like salmon and headed home from a Beckham corner. A tribute to by gone days at Old Trafford.
However the deadlock remained for only tiny minutes after the break to leave James and Wembley stunned by quality and a flash of European class and exquisite prowess, as Jankulovski curled in a remember able and unstoppable left foot curler form a free kick.
The veteran coach had been quoted as saying that’s the times for experiments was over, it started to look like the ends hadn’t justified the means of these so called experiments haven’t produced a well rounded end.
As time dragged by the quality of both teams lacked but England’s resolve stood firm and it rewarded then in the last minute of injury time when Joe Cole poked home.
After many promising games this flimsy draw has no added the weight of the competition and now the supporters on top of Capellos shoulders. Can he handle it?
