How to find and run scanpst.exe in vista

This article will help you find ScanPST.exe location in Vista home edition, the purpose of scanpst.exe is to resolve errors on .pst files such as in MS outlook backup file ie outlook.pst

The reason I was looking for the file was because when I ran ms outlook my computer started to use maximum of 100% CPU, which slowed down my computer to the max.

If your MS outlook .PST file is corrupted in Vista, run ScanPST.exe.  According to some articles the scanpst.exe file resides in Common Files directory. In my personal experience I found if you have Microsoft Office 2007 Enterprise, you will find the file in the following location:

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12

Another location you will find ScanPST.exe is in \common files\system\msmapi\1033

Once you have found the file double click and run the file, it will prompt you to browse and look for your corrupted, my .pst file was situated in c:\users\”you profile name”\appdata\local\microsoft\outlook\outlook.pst.
