Christmas in Las Vegas
November 29, 2008
Las Vegas might not be the place you think of when you want to spend the holidays in the USA, but there are lots of activities for every age group. You don’t have to go to Vegas just for gambling!
New York – New York is a family-oriented hotel. There are reasonably priced restaurants, amusement rides and many other activities for all age groups. It is also near the heart of the main Strip (Fremont Street) for a good walking tour to see the lights of the downtown casinos.
If the Wild West is your thing, the Cowboy Christmas Gift Show at the Las Vegas Convention Center has nearly 500 retail kiosks. It is in conjunction with the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo. It is open to the public ten days during mid-December.
Town Square Las Vegas is a 1.5 million-square-foot shopping, dining and entertainment center that is fabulous to visit during the Christmas and New Year’s holiday. A 40-foot Christmas tree is in the center of the complex. A 900-square-foot Santa house is sure to make a hit with the kids.
The Bellagio has a great winter celebration at its Conservatory & Botanical Gardens. Guests see flying reindeer created from whole pecans, a snowman family crafted from white carnations and a giant Christmas wreath made from pinecones, topped by a shiny golden bow. A 32-foot-tall fir tree decorated with 12,000 lights is the centerpiece attraction. The holiday display is open from early December through the first week in January.
During the New Year’s holiday the entire city is one big celebration. America’s Party, based at the Fremont Street Experience downtown, is a great for casinos, dining and live entertainment all in one place. Heck with your hotel babysitting service for your night out. Many hotels have arcades, rides and other activities for children of all ages while you have your night out to celebrate welcoming in the New Year.
Las Vegas is not just a place for gambling and casinos. There are so many activities all year round for families that you may not have time for everything!
